About Belongg
Belongg is an impact venture that seeks to bring discrimination-free services to millions of people who, otherwise, face prejudice & bias on account of their identity (gender, race, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, disability, relationship status, or even food choices). We run a series of interrelated programs focused on Inclusive Housing Rentals, Inclusive Mental Health, a Book Club focused on diversity & inclusion, and a Research Collective focused on these themes.
Belongg’s Inclusive Rental Housing Program
Millions of people face prejudice and bias while looking for rental housing on account of their identity (gender, sexuality, religion, caste, race, ethnicity, disability, relationship status, or even food habits). This leads to ghettoization and also economic penalties where people have to pay more if they wish to live in a “normal area”. Further, this triggers a vicious cycle of urban segregation that reduces the opportunity to meet people different from each other and leads to a scenario where this kind of prejudice is considered normal. Resident Welfare Associations reinforce these trends and whole areas in cities get known as a particular “type of neighbourhood”.
Belongg seeks to bring inclusive rental housing to our community by matching them with inclusive homeowners (landlords) who don’t discriminate based on the identity of the tenant.
Program Manager: Inclusive Housing
Belongg is looking for a talented Program Manager to run our Inclusive Rental Housing service line. This will include designing an optimal service experience for both people seeking housing and those looking to lease out their homes, overseeing marketing efforts to attract home seekers and homeowners to grow our platform, and managing operations including a network of property brokers, and ensuring that rental searches are successfully completed.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities in this role would include:
- Growing the Belongg homeowner (landlord) network
- Working with the Belongg leadership team to develop and execute strategies to grow Belongg’s network of inclusive homeowners across urban India
- This would involve conceptualizing campaign ideas, media partnerships, referral programs, word-of-mouth campaigns
- Managing homeowner relationships through periodic engagement
- Overseeing marketing efforts to get home seekers
- Working with the Belongg team to conceptualize organic and social media campaigns and generate “leads” of people looking for inclusive rental housing
- Growing Belongg’s inclusive property agent network
- Working with the Belongg team to identity and establish partnerships with existing inclusive property agents (brokers) across key cities
- Design and set up a program to onboard new property agents directly within Belongg
- Overseeing home search operations
- Leading the housing operations team to ensure that all home seekers are able to find inclusive rental housing through our homeowner network &/or property agent network
- Partnerships
- Supporting the Belongg leadership team to enter into B2B partnerships with leading companies and organizations
What we are looking for
We are looking to hire a talented individual with the following qualifications:
- Passion about diversity and inclusion. This is a non-negotiable
- Passion about social entrepreneurship and development. This is also non-negotiable
- At least 5-7 years of experience in a high-performing operations, business development, or partnerships role in urban development, inclusive housing, real-estate industry, ideally in a technology-oriented organization
- A deep understanding of, and interest in, both the urban development and inclusive housing ecosystems with relationships in several organizations
- Experience managing small teams of 4-6 people
- An extremely entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to grow an initiative from scratch
- Impeccable communication both oral and written
- An excellent work ethic and a willingness to roll up sleeves as needed
- Deep curiosity and the willingness to experiment and a hypothesis-driven approach that is flexible
- Degrees from top schools in India (or abroad) in related disciplines
- Being deadline driven and able to function effectively in startup settings
The position is based in India and while the offices of Belongg are in Delhi, we are open to candidates who are placed elsewhere and willing to work remotely.
