Job Description: Curriculum Manager (IGNITE)

Location: Chennai

Job Nature: Permanent Full-time

IGNITE is Bhumi’s supplementary education program where we strive towards bridging the educational gap through three models:

• through volunteers at orphanages during weekends since 2006
• at low-income (private and government) schools with development support for teachers since 2016
• at after-school community centres in urban slums

 The content forms the core for all our volunteers and tutors, enabling them to take education to our children in the most effective manner possible. As the Curriculum Manager, you would be responsible for ensuring the quality of the content and its delivery across IGNITE projects. 

You will lead the CTLs (Content and Training Leads) and will also work closely with associates and program managers who would be managing the operational aspects of the project. Also, you would be required to interact and train the volunteers / tutors on the content and pedagogical aspects of the same. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Constantly identify needs, collect feedback and improve existing content / create new content
• Identify needs, strategize, design the training, and training plan for volunteers, tutors and teachers
• Ensure ongoing content support for volunteers, tutors, teachers and project managers
• Develop and groom the training abilities of associates and volunteers

• Design systems for on-going monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the impact of the programme

Preferred Education Qualification / Experience:

• Minimum two-year teaching experience (preferably in a differentiated classroom)
• Experience in content creation
• Experience of having worked in or with a community / volunteer-based organization
• Any Graduate or post-graduate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good understanding of the pedagogical aspects involved in teaching children. Good people engagement, networking and listening skills
• Clarity on the different curriculums being used in India
• Ability to drive outcome-oriented plans through the team’s collective effort
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Tamil
• Good computer knowledge and MS Office skills
• Emotional maturity to empathize with the perspectives/needs of team members
• Highly resourceful team-player, who is also self-driven
• Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions

• Designation: Lead to Manager based on candidate’s profile
• Expected Age: Below 35
• Scope: Full time
• Remuneration: CTC 6-7 Lakhs p.a. based on the candidate’s profile
• Location: Chennai
• Minimum commitment: Three years
