CEL Kids Hackathon is an annual national coding event for kids in grades 5-9 to showcase their coding talent. In 2019, 1157 kids from 56 schools (government to international) participated across 16 different cities. 90 ℅ participants last year in a survey said that they would like to participate again in the next edition. It's a good opportunity for kids to learn empathy, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and perseverance in relation to UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Kids code animations, games and applications on Scratch, an application developed by MIT Media Labs. We also have a free video-based curriculum to help kids learn to code on Scratch and push further their computational thinking to prepare for the event.
I am Teach for India Alum and founder of Code to Enhance Learning, a non-profit, with a vision that kids code to express and problem solve. I am writing to you to share about CEL Kids Hackathon 2020 an amazing coding opportunity for kids to build 21st-century skills and want to connect with schools/organizations that work with kids to reach out to more kids to help them code and build 21st-century skills.
