TIDE invites Postgraduate/doctorate students or freelancers for creating some knowledge products/communication material for its Gender & Livelihood programs.
About TIDE:
Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE), (www.tide-india.org) is a Bangalore based development organization that leverages technology for conserving the environment, creating livelihoods and addressing societal issues. TIDE’s work encompasses biomass-based retail and industrial cooking solutions, renewable energy and energy efficiency / conservation (RE & EE), environment management and technology-based livelihoods for rural women. For the past 26 years, TIDE has developed, adapted and transferred technology options like improved cook stoves, biogas, biomass gasification, biomass briquetting and energy audits. TIDE’s work aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN, primarily 3,5,7,11,12 and 13.
About Gender and Livelihoods:
Under the Gender and Livelihoods (G & L) focus area, TIDE’s objective is the social and economic empowerment of rural women. Empowered and self-reliant women contribute, in turn, not only to the well-being of their families but also to nation building. Various projects on women leadership, village development, promotion, incubation and facilitation of women led enterprise help us meet this objective. Our Women’s Technology Park (WTP) at Araluguppe village in Tumkur District functions as a training cum incubation centre for women entrepreneurs. The women are provided with technology know-how, business plan inputs and facilitation support for their enterprises. Additionally, WTP is a production centre for Manini, a women’s self-help group, and has infrastructure for ragi biscuits production, areca plate making, dried vegetables making, cloth bag / paper bag, to name a few.
Key deliverables under this assignment:
- Understand the objectives and desired outcomes of various projects in the G&L group.
- Visit some project sites and WTP to get an idea
- Work with the team to collate the materials and propose ideas for communication collaterals including videos, presentation, case studies and short write ups including blogs / news features / articles.
- Create the narrative and the collaterals in coordination with the team , both in English and Kannada.
- Optionally, suggest platforms for sharing / disseminating these
Duration
Minimum 3 months, may be extended on need. Expected start period: not later than 1st February 2020.
Necessary qualifications / skills
- Established / verifiable expertise in communications, preferably with prior experience
- Knowledge of Kannada, speaking , reading and writing
- Sensitivity to Gender and rural landscape
- Familiarity with NGO work / funder requirements
- Willing to travel extensively in Tumkur district (day trips)
Remuneration
A professional fee or a stipend would be paid, based on the mutually agreed scope and duration.
