Job: Brooke India: Media Fellowship (Deadline: January 31) for 4 months grant 1,00,00

Brooke India is seeking for an experienced and energetic Media fellow interested in writing on working equines. The selected Media fellow will be required to investigate and write a detailed report on declining equine population in India.

Deliverables:
·       Once selected, the fellow will have to attend an orientation/briefing at BI Head Office to understand and familiarize themselves with the organization and requirements of the fellowship.
·       The selected fellow will be required to travel to BI’s field sites or other relevant sites in the country that are required for the undertaken assignment. The stories may or may not be limited to Brooke India interventions, but must contribute to the larger vision of Brooke India’s work on equine welfare issues.
·       The selected candidates will be required to publish a detailed report in their official capacity on the completion of the fellowship.
·       After the field/site visits, the candidates will be required to share a draft version of their stories with the BI team.
·       The fellow must acknowledge the support of BI Media Fellowship 2020 when they publish or present the articles or reports they produce under the fellowship elsewhere.
·       Post the fellowship, the articles/reports become the joint property of BI and the fellow, and BI reserves the right to reproduce the materials developed under the fellowship programme giving due acknowledgment to the fellow and the media house.
Duration: 4 months

Fellowship Grant: INR 1,00,00 (INR One lakh)

This will be inclusive of the travel, accommodation, site visits and other miscellaneous costs.  Proof of expenditure including those of visits will necessarily have to be submitted.  The fellowship grant shall be payable in tranches in manner to be mutually decided. The fellowship will be for a period of four months, which will include identifying the theme and locations, traveling to the site and reporting the story. The story submitted will have to be backed by verifiable facts and data. The onus of the authenticity of the story submitted will be with the author and the sponsoring media house. BI reserves the right to fact check independently for authenticity. Any nonconformity with regard to the submitted report’s authenticity will render the terms of the fellowship null and void

Who Can Apply?

Mandatory
·       Journalism Graduate and 3 years’ experience as media professional in a reputed media house.
·       Graduate in any other disciple with 5 years’ experience as media professional in a reputed media house.
Desirable
·       Previous experience in reporting on the environment, animal welfare and related themes/topics
·       Media professional with experience in national media house
How Can You Apply?
·       Curriculum Vitae
·       A brief proposal for executing the said assignment along with research methodology
·       Letter of recommendation/interest from the media house to publish the story
·       Copies of at least three previously published stories on environmental, animal welfare or related issues. These must have been published by a newspaper or magazine or on a news portal
·       Professional achievements.
Rewards: Certificate of appreciation from Brooke India and an additional fellowship award of INR 30,000/- (INR thirty thousand) on successful submission of the report.
