Summary of Responsibilities: Manage Hasiru Dala’s Program on Enumeration and Social Security
Facilitation of Sanitation Workers in Tiruchirapalli City and Coimbatore (Perinayaikan Palyam and
Narasimhanayaikan Palyam)
Functional Responsibilities:
1. Read, understand and coordinate translation (if needed) existing literature on the laws,
schemes and support mechanisms that are available on sanitation workers from the State and
Centre
2. Mange complete survey of sanction workers in all three places
3. Analyze the data of the survey and write relevant reports
4. Liaise with the local government to facilitate social security for sanitation workers
5. Liaise with the Indian Institute of Human Settlements (IIHS) team in Trichy and Coimbatore and
complement their efforts under the City Wise Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) project
6. Facilitate formation of an organization of waste pickers
7. Train sanitation workers on the use of Personal Protective and Safety Equipment
Managerial/Operational Responsibilities:
1. Manage a small team of professionals working on organizing people at the grassroots level
2. Manage day to day activities, office space and logistics of the organization, as and when
required
3. Coordinate report preparation and submission (including text, audio and video documentation,
as appropriate), as per agreed frequency
4. Any other role, that may be deemed necessary by the core team
Essential Qualifications:
1. Good experience (5 to 7 years) of working in field-intensive non-profit projects/programs
2. Good experience (3 to 5 years) in working with the informal sector workers and/or grassroots
organizing
3. Good understanding issues of urban poor and create/facilitate opportunities of livelihood for
them
4. Ability to liaise with local and state bureaucracy and polity
5. Reasonable competence in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) tool and other
data management tools
6. Ability to speak, read and write Tamil and English
7. Proficient in writing reports and documentation
8. Good experience (2 to 3 years) in leading a team
9. Graduate/Post-Graduate Degree in Social Work/Development/Public Policy (Desirable Only)
CTC Scale: Rs. 27,000/- to 30,000/- per month (Negotiable and Depends on Experience)
