Internship: Environment Communications Internship with Indicus Foundation paid internship opportunity

Environment Communications Internship

About the Internship:
The purpose of the initiative is to create videos from news related to environment, social issues and
governance to build and meaningfully engage digital communities.
The broad objectives include understanding thoroughly:
❖ What are the methods to efficiently create videos from text (specifically, news)?
❖ What are the most engaging video templates and structures? (including duration, background
score)
❖ What are the best organisations creating communication content on environmental issues?
❖ What are the best communication strategies and/or practices to build and engage with digital
communities through social media platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram?
The interns are expected to create 6-8 engaging videos using preselected automated video-making
software independently, under supervision of Indicus team-members. The best videos would be selected for publication and would include credit to the creator. You would get the opportunity to learn 2-3 such software.

Indicus Foundation’s fortnightly newsletter ‘The Unearth Bulletin” is a premier environment newsletter in the country, read by the senior-most politicians, bureaucrats, researchers and industry professionals. This opportunity requires you to chose any articles from this newsletter and create short videos (upto 90 seconds) from that curated content.
Your ingenuity requires you to create the video using only the content from the newsletter, but not any other link. Following this, you would be expected to use videos thus created for social media engagement.

Preliminary data analysis may also be included in this depending upon abilities and interests.
Any text, video and audio used in the video should of course not infringe any copyrights, and can be taken only from creative commons licenses.
This is a first of its kind experiment in the country, where innovative and well-informed video content on the environment would be made available to the layperson. Your 1-month internship would be
acknowledged accordingly.

Guidelines:
1. The news items to create the videos should be chosen from our newsletter that curates
environmental news: https://www.getrevue.co/profile/indicus.
2. The text-to-video software will be mutually decided between you and the Indicus team.
3. Please ensure against copyright infringement
a. The text or image CANNOT be copied from the news article.
b. You can include your own text, if required or that contained in the newsletter.
c. All the images, videos and gifs used in the videos need to be royalty-free. If you choose any
image under the Creative Commons License, provide appropriate credits at the bottom right
of the slide/screen.
d. If you are not aware of copyright issues associated with visual content, use images ONLY
from Google Images choosing the “Labelled for Reuse” filter selected from Tools.
e. Rule 3 applies to audio too. All background score and music must be appropriately credited.
4. The selected videos will require final edits as suggested by your supervisor, to be completed by you.
5. The ownership of the video will be with Indicus and appropriate credits shall be given to you.
6. Social media engagement could be under Indicus social media accounts and/or your own
